Plagiarism Prevention &
Generative AI Ethics Policy

The UnivColl International Multidisciplinary Research Journal (UIMRJ) stands as a guardian of scholarly integrity. Published by UnivColl Publications, we adhere rigidly to the core practices defined by the:

COPE Committee on Publication Ethics
UGC Regulations Academic Integrity 2018
🚫

Zero-Tolerance Policy

We maintain a strict stance against academic misconduct to ensure that every published article contributes authentically to the global knowledge base. Plagiarism, Data Fabrication, and Unethical AI use lead to immediate rejection.

Defining Plagiarism & Misconduct

UIMRJ defines plagiarism as the appropriation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit. We categorize violations into four strict tiers:

Verbatim Copying
Using text word-for-word without quotation marks or proper citation. This is a direct violation of copyright and academic honesty.
Unattributed Paraphrasing
Rewriting someone else’s work or logic while presenting the idea as your own. Changing words does not eliminate the need for citation.
Text Recycling (Self)
Reusing significant portions of your own previously published work without citing the original source (Duplicate Publication).
Data Fabrication
Manufacturing data, images, or results to mislead the scientific community. This is considered scholarly fraud.

📡 Similarity Index & Acceptance Thresholds

To maintain Scopus & Web of Science (WoS) indexing standards, UIMRJ enforces strict similarity limits verified via Turnitin / iThenticate reports.

≤ 10%

Accepted

Minor similarities in definitions, bibliography, or standard equations are permitted.

10% - 40% ⚠️

Revision Required

Manuscript is returned. Content must be rewritten with proper paraphrasing and citation.

> 40% 🚫

Immediate Rejection

Categorically rejected without peer review. Considered below ethical publication standards.

ℹ️

Indexing Note: Matches found in the References/Bibliography, Table of Contents, and standard Affiliations are automatically excluded from the final similarity count.

Policy on Generative AI (LLMs)

In strict alignment with WAME and COPE recommendations, UIMRJ regulates the use of AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.

🚫

A. Authorship Rules

AI tools cannot be authors. They lack the legal capacity to hold copyright, consent to publication, or take responsibility for content. Any manuscript listing an AI as a co-author will be rejected.

📢

B. Mandatory Disclosure

Authors must disclose AI usage in the "Materials and Methods" section.

Example Declaration: "AI tool [Name] was used for [Reason: e.g., grammar checking] in the drafting of this manuscript."

C. Permitted Use

  • Language polishing & grammar correction.
  • Formatting references & citations.
  • Improving readability of non-native English.

D. Prohibited Use

  • Generating core hypotheses or conclusions.
  • Interpreting raw data or images.
  • Creating synthetic/fake references (Hallucinations).

🛡️ The Screening & Detection Process

Every manuscript undergoes a rigorous Double-Tier Verification before reaching peer review. We combine algorithmic precision with human expertise.

01

Algorithmic Screening

Turnitin API iThenticate

Submission is scanned via industry-standard software to detect text overlap, recycling, and AI-generated probability scores.

02

Manual Forensic Review

Editorial Board Subject Expert

Senior Editors perform a forensic check for logical consistency, context verification, and detection of "AI Hallucinations" (fake citations).

⚖️ Consequences of Violation

To maintain the sanctity of the scholarly record, UIMRJ enforces a graded response to misconduct, ranging from rejection to permanent blacklisting.

Phase 01

Pre-Publication Rejection

  • Immediate Rejection of the manuscript.
  • Formal warning letter sent to the author.
  • Notification to the author's Institution/Dean (in severe cases).
Phase 02

Formal Retraction

If misconduct is proven post-publication, the article is formally RETRACTED.

RETRACTED

Phase 03

Institutional Blacklisting

3 - 5 YEARS
Submission Ban

Severe offenders are barred from submitting to UnivColl Publications. This ban extends to all co-authors involved in the misconduct.

Report Ethical Concerns

Community vigilance is vital. If you suspect plagiarism or misconduct, report it directly to the Chief Editor.
